Barcelona expect quiet January transfer window, unless Memphis Depay departs

Barcelona director of football Mateu Alemany is expecting the club to have a quiet January transfer window, but if there is one player that could move it is likely to be forward Memphis Depay.

The 28-year-old Memphis is currently at the bottom of Barcelona's pecking order when it comes to strikers, but Atletico Madrid could be the next destination for the Dutchman as they have recently lost both attackers Joao Felix and Matheus Cunha to the Premier League.
This all means that Atletico are a bit short upfront and will be looking for someone to join the likes of Alvaro Morata, Yannick Carrasco, Antoine Griezmann and Angel Correa as potential forwards.
In an interview carried by Sport, Alemany did not confirm whether Memphis was leaving or not but that Barcelona were satisfied with their squad.
"We will see. He is an extraordinary player and nobody will be surplus. He has a lot of quality… I can't anticipate things," Alemany told Sport.
"We are satisfied with the squad we have made. It is deep and has variety, but we are aware and attentive to everything, although there is no urgency."
The big problem is that should one of Barcelona's main strikers get injured then Memphis is seen as an ideal replacement, but the Netherlands international wants game time not to be side-lined as is the current situation at Camp Nou.
