Aston Villa v West Ham: Tips, predictions, bet builder as Villans target win 14 years in the making

Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins

Aston Villa have got a 14-year record in their sights as they prepare to host West Ham on Sunday (1630 GMT).

The Villans know that their Champions League fairytale is coming to an end this season, but if they want another go in the European elite they need to start winning more points in the Premier League.

A win over West Ham on Sunday would see Unai Emery’s men pile the pressure on their top four and top six rivals, and a win is certainly within reach.

West Ham enter this game on the back of four defeats from their last five games – this includes an FA Cup defeat at Villa Park a fortnight ago.

Here, we take a closer look at Sunday’s fixture and pick out some of the best bets along the way.

Good luck and please gamble responsibly.

Aston Villa vs West Ham bet builder

Aston Villa to win – 8/15

Both teams to score – 8/11

West Ham to score first – 21/10

Ollie Watkins to score anytime – 10/11

Aston Villa to win

Aston Villa have dominated their recent meetings with West Ham. The Villans are unbeaten in five and have won three of the last four across all competitions.

Unai Emery’s men are looking to do a season double over the Irons for the first time in 14 years and considering West Ham’s poor form, the hosts are the ones to back.

Graham Potter’s side are on a run of four defeats in five games and have only won three away matches since the start of the campaign.

Both teams to score

For all of West Ham’s faults, they are capable of finding the back of the net. Afterall, they have scored in eight of their last 10 matches across all competitions.

The Irons got on the scoresheet at Villa Park when the two teams met in the FA Cup a fortnight ago.

Considering Villa have only kept one clean sheet from 10 games, we’re backing West Ham to get on the scoresheet.

West Ham to score first

While we are backing Villa to win the match, we’re not convinced they will open the scoring.

Three of their last four games have seen the opposition bag the opener – this includes West Ham from that recent FA Cup clash.

Ollie Watkins to score anytime

Ollie Watkins has performed well in recent games, contributing to three goals across Villa’s last four games.

The Englishman bagged two goals – away at Everton and Arsenal – and also came up with an assist.

Watkins is also a bit of a nightmare for the Irons defence, scoring four times against them in 10 previous meetings.
