AS Roma confirm permanent acquisition of Angelino from RB Leipzig

AS Roma have announced the permanent signing of former Manchester City defender Angelino from RB Leipzig.

After having joined AS Roma on loan this past winter, Angelino has now made the move to the Serie A side permanent. The Spaniard featured in 16 games for the side in the second half of the 2023/24 season, making 14 starts.

Angelino joined RBL on loan from Manchester City in January 2020, before joining on a permanent deal in summer 2021. The former Spain U21 international (2 caps) went on to make a century of appearances for RBL, scoring 12 goals and setting up a further 29.

Before moving to Italy this past winter, Angelino also enjoyed stints on loan at TSG 1899 Hoffenheim and Galatasaray.

According to Gazzetta, former Roma coach Tiago Pinto attempted to bring Angelino to Bournemouth, but the 27-year-old declined the offer, choosing to stay at Roma.

Meanwhile, Roma's other left-back, Leonardo Spinazzola, is anticipated to depart from the club when his contract expires next month.
