Arteta 4/9 to be next Premier League boss to leave, with bookies saying it's ‘only a matter of time’

Arsenal boss odds on to be on his way first, while Man Utd shorten for the title following win over Wolves.

Mikel Arteta is now as short as 4/9 to be the next Premier League manager to go following Arsenal's humbling at Manchester City at the weekend.

On the back of three successive defeats, the Gunners sit rock-bottom of the Premier League and Planet Sport Bet think it is just a matter of time before the Spaniard and the north London club part ways.

Xisco Munoz at trigger-happy Watford is rated the next most likely manager to leave his post at 15/2.

Relegation for Arsenal, something that seemed unthinkable at the start of the campaign, while still rated unlikely, is now in to 20/1.

Scott Allen, spokesperson for Planet Sport Bet, said it was the manner of the defeat to the reigning champions which has set alarm bells ringing.

"The majority of teams are going to lose to Manchester City this season but it is the lack of fight that is more concerning.

"Arsenal have not only lost their three games but failed to score in any of them. Mikel Arteta has called for a response and while Norwich next up may look the perfect fixture, it is also one that could put the final nail in the coffin."

At the other end of the table, the two Manchester clubs have both seen their odds clipped after vastly differing performances.

City's 5-0 romp has seen them backed to 6/5 from 5/4, while United are 5s from 11/2 after a hard-fought 1-0 win over Wolves.

The imminent arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo is another positive for the Red Devils, with the Portuguese already favourite for the Player of the Year award, having been put in at 11/2.

Chelsea are out to 11/4 from 5/2 to win the title after their 1-1 draw with Liverpool who remain 9/2.

Dropping into the Championship, the outcome of the title is now seen as a two-horse race, with Fulham and West Brom both having opened up with four wins on the bounce.
Marco Silva's Fulham are 13/8, with West Brom 11/5.
Bournemouth, who were held to a goalless draw by struggling Hull at the weekend, are next best at 12/1.
