Al Ahly v Inter Miami: Prediction, where to watch, stats, free tips and bet builder

Inter Miami forward Lionel Messi
The maiden edition of the revamped Club World Cup kicks off this weekend as hosts Inter Miami welcome Egyptian giants Al Ahly to the Hard Rock Stadium (Sun, 0100 BST).
FIFA’s attempt at turning the Club World Cup into a big deal hasn’t got off to the best of starts, with the tournament opener struggling to draw interest and sell tickets.
Prices have gone from upwards of $250 to $50, while some students in Miami could get in for as little as $5. Not a bad price to watch Lionel Messi.
Speaking of the Argentinian, he was one of the big reasons why FIFA shoehorned his Inter Miami side into the tournament – one of the many controversies surrounding the event.
Unlike their American rivals, Al Ahly head to the States on merit. The Egyptian side qualified for the tournament thanks to their four CAF Champions League wins in 2020, 2021, 2023 and 2024.
Jose Riveiro’s men are making their 11th appearance at the Club World Cup which is by far the most for an African club.
With 44 Egyptian titles and 14 CAF Champions League crowns to their name, there’s no doubt that Al Ahly are one of the biggest names on the African continent.
Whether the club are good enough to take their continental form onto the world stage remains to be seen, but Inter Miami are unlikely to be their toughest test.
The MLS outfit have only picked up three wins from their last 10 matches across all competitions – a run which includes five defeats.
Manager Javier Mascherano won this competition twice with Barcelona during his playing days, but adding a third such crown would be rather ambitious.
Inter Miami are just the second American club to compete at the Club World Cup, and they could become the first team from the United States to score a goal at the tournament.

For a former defender, it’s rather surprising that Mascherano’s Inter Miami side boast one of the worst defensive records in the MLS.
Miami failed to keep a single clean sheet in their last 10 outings, conceding a mammoth 26 goals along the way – an average of 2.6 per game.
While the Americans struggle to keep the ball out of their own net, they have no problems when it comes to scoring for themselves.
Inter have scored 12 goals across their last three games alone – including five against Columbus Crew in their last MLS match.
Al Ahly are not shy either. The African outfit have scored 21 goals across their last six league matches and will be looking to cause an upset in Miami.
With all that in mind, we’re backing both teams to score, over 2.5 goals and over 7.5 corners.
In terms of specific player bets, we like the look of Lionel Messi in the anytime goalscorer market. The Argentine has scored five goals in as many Club World Cup games during his legendary career. We are backing Messi to add to his goal tally.
