AFC Wimbledon v Walsall: Prediction, tips and bet builder

Walsall's manager Mat Sadler
Battle for League One football reaches its climax when AFC Wimbledon take on Walsall in the League Two play-off final at Wembley this Monday afternoon (1500 BST).
This was not how the season was meant to end for Walsall. After the first 24 matches of the campaign, the club sat proudly at the top of the table and boasted a 12-point advantage over second place.
Unfortunately for Mat Sadler’s side, top goalscorer Nathan Lowe was recalled from his loan by Stoke City – a move which marked their drop off in form.
Instead of battling for the title, Walsall had their eyes on automatic promotion. Trouble is, despite their 1-0 win over Crewe Alexandra on the final day of the season, the Saddlers were pushed down into a play-off position courtesy of Bradford City and their 96th minute winner against Fleetwood Town.
Walsall managed to forget about their regular season disappointment and did a solid job over Chesterfield in the play-off semi-final, winning 4-1 on aggregate.
In order to officially end their six-year League One exile, the Saddlers need one more win – this time against AFC Wimbledon at Wembley.
The Dons have been competing in the fourth tier for three seasons now, steadily improving with every campaign.
Johnnie Jackson’s men sealed a fifth placed finish with a win over Grimsby and backed that up with a 2-0 aggregate win over Notts County in the play-off semi-final.
Here we pick out some of our best tips for this juicy play-off final, and if you put it into a Betway bet builder you’ll get odds of around 6/1.

Walsall have a slight edge when it comes to the head-to-head record this season, picking up a 1-0 win over their rivals back in November. Their second game of the season ended in a 1-1 draw.
Sadler’s men have been in truly woeful form, going on a 13-match winless run from February to April.
However, play-off fever appears to have brought out the best in Walsall, with the team now on a three-match winning run. We’re backing the Saddlers to make it four in a row with a win over Wimbledon.
Under 2.5 goals is another addition to our acca. This bet has landed in Wimbledon’s last eight matches, and four of Walsall’s last five.
We are also expecting a one goal winning margin. Three of Walsall’s last four games have seen this bet land. The same goes for four of Wimbledon’s last five.
