After winning two games in a row, Forest drew 1-1 with Bournemouth, had their match against Sligo Rovers cancelled, and lost 3-0 to United in the 1st leg of the semi-final clash.

United have won three of their last five matches, along with a 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace and a 3-2 loss to Arsenal. Their last match was a 3-1 win over Reading in the FA Cup.

It would seem highly unlikely for Forest to score three goals at Old Trafford just to earn extra-time, but anything can happen in a cup tie.

United are currently fourth in the Premier League but still have a sniff at a title tilt. Forest seem fairly safe in 13th place on the Premier League table… but they are only four points ahead of 18th-placed Bournemouth.

The winner of the two semi-final matches between Man United and Notts Forest will meet Newcastle United a Wembley Stadium on 16 February 2023.
