'Trying to find the Mark Williams secret' - Ronnie O’Sullivan opens up on search for consistency

Ronnie O’Sullivan was on his best behaviour after beating Jackson Page to advance to the third round of the English Open in Brentwood.

The world number one had railed against the tournament – and British events in general – earlier this week and suggested more events should be moved to China.

But after securing a 4-1 win to set up a third-round meeting with World Championship semi-finalist Si Jiahui, O’Sullivan stressed he was focused on finding some consistency in his game.

O’Sullivan told Eurosport: “I worked hard at my game yesterday. I played for four hours.

“Rather than practising for two hours every day, I am going to play twice a week for a bit longer and then take days off.

“I am trying to find some consistency, trying to find the Mark Williams secret, whatever that is.”

Fresh from winning the British Open on Sunday, Williams continued his hot streak as he fired two centuries in a tight 4-3 win over China’s Xiao Guodong.

Si impressed in a 4-0 whitewash of Fergal O’Brien while Judd Trump had to dredge up the last two frames to edge past Jimmy Robertson 4-3.
