Several big names departed the Scottish Open in the third round on Wednesday.
A day on from 2019 world champion Judd Trump crashing out in round two, former tournament winner Luca Brecel suffered a 4-2 last-32 defeat to Martin O’Donnell, who wrapped things up with a break of 82.
And four-time Crucible winner Mark Selby, runner-up to Brecel this year, was ousted by Matthew Sept, going down 4-3 in Edinburgh.
Another former world champion John Higgins was taken the distance by Ricky Walden before making it through. Ding Junhui went down 4-3 to Tom Ford while Ali Carter was another to be knocked out, losing 4-2 to Noppon Saengkham.
Second-round action earlier in the day included defending champion Gary Wilson making it through with a 4-3 win over Xing Zihao, and Kyren Wilson whitewashing Jordan Brown.
