Judd Trump hits back to beat Jamie Jones at the World Grand Prix in Leicester

Judd Trump put last week's Masters disappointment behind him as he beat Jamie Jones 4-2 to book his place in the last 16 at the World Grand Prix in Leicester.

Trump, whose title defence came to an end against Ali Carter at Ally Pally, was facing another defeat as he trailed 2-0 to Jones.

An opening break of 103 put the Welshman in control and he doubled his advantage to raise the prospect of a high-profile success.

But Trump clicked into gear, with consecutive breaks of 80 and 81 hauling him back level before he also took the next two to seal his place in the second round.

Next up for Trump is China’s Lyu Haotian, who held off a strong comeback from Chris Wakelin to edge a narrow 4-3 win.

Iran’s Hossein Vafaei defeated England’s Matthew Selt 4-3 while former world champion Mark Selby beat China’s Yuan Sijun 4-3.
