Spanish Grand Prix tips: Sergio Perez set for race win, Alex Albion pushing for points

Formula 1 heads to Spain this weekend, with the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya hosting the Spanish Grand Prix. Check out our suggested bets for Sunday’s race.

Max Verstappen roared to yet another victory in Monaco last weekend - then declared that he felt Red Bull could win every race on the calendar this season.

Mercedes and Ferrari do not seem to be in any position to challenge the dominance of Red Bull, so home hope for the Spanish Grand Prix will rest on the shoulders of Fernando Alonso, who took second place in Monaco with an impressive race in his Aston Martin.
Planet F1's Mark Scott has scoured the Planet Sport Bet markets to see what value there is this weekend - and has come up with these tips.

Sergio Perez race winner

With Max Verstappen being the huge odds-on favourite (and justifiably so) to record yet another F1 victory at the Spanish Grand Prix, the value is with Red Bull team-mate Sergio Perez.

The Mexican driver's miserable Monaco outing has put him 39 points behind Verstappen in the fight for the World Championship title and he needs to respond quickly, or else the No.2 driver tag will be placed firmly around his neck again.
Perez has the experience to bounce back from a tough race and should retain some confidence that he can at least keep Verstappen on his toes throughout the entire weekend.

Winning margin - Over 10 seconds

If Max Verstappen is to have it all his own way in Barcelona, though, it makes more sense to take quotes of around 5/4 for the winning margin to be over 10 seconds to the second-placed driver.
Verstappen beat Perez in last year's edition of the Spanish Grand Prix by 13 seconds and this bet would have actually won in four of the last five races in Barcelona.

Alex Albon points finish

It was a wise decision to avoid siding with Alex Albon and Williams in Monaco as the tight, twisty nature of the track did not play to the strengths of the FW44 car whatsoever.
A different story should unfold in Barcelona as straight-line speed is more of a factor at the Circuit de Catalunya and Albon is a driver who is more than capable of playing a key part in the battle for minor honours this weekend.
