Red Bull's Sergio Perez says controversy resolved, focus back to racing

Red Bull's Sergio Perez has asserted that the controversies around team boss Christian Horner are a thing of the past, with the focus firmly back on racing.

The saga began when Horner faced an investigation by Red Bull GmbH over allegations of inappropriate behaviour. However, the case was dismissed prior to last weekend's Bahrain Grand Prix.

Tensions within the team escalated when alleged evidence surfaced via an anonymous email, leading to public spats and Max Verstappen's father, Jos, hinting at potential team implosion if Horner retained his position.

Addressing the media, Perez emphasized the team's commitment to racing, stating, "We are a race team at the end of the day and we are here to race and focus to deliver on track."

He acknowledged the challenges but underscored Red Bull's massive scale and the team's primary dedication to on-track performance.

When questioned about assurances from Red Bull's management, Perez clarified, "We basically speak about the racing side. We know this is behind us, and I appreciate it is the team principal and the CEO, and everything will keep going like it's been before."

Perez highlighted the team's impressive performance in Bahrain, where they secured a one-two finish with Verstappen leading the charge. Reflecting on the outcome, Perez stated, "When you see the results we just had, we finished one-two and started the season on the right foot. The team is working - there are still a lot of things we can tidy up in the race from Bahrain, and that is the main energy."

As the controversy simmers down, all eyes are now on the upcoming F1 race weekend in Saudi Arabia, set to take place from March 7 to March 9, 2024, starting with two practice sessions today.

The Jeddah Corniche Circuit, known for its high speeds and 27 corners, promises another thrilling chapter in the Formula 1 calendar. The Red Bull team, seemingly refocused and resilient, aim to build on their successful start to the season.
