F1 news: Mick Schumacher seriously considering Mercedes switch for 2023 and beyond

Haas driver Mick Schumacher revealed that he is seriously considering taking up Toto Wolff on his offer to join Mercedes as a test driver for the 2023 season.

Haas driver Mick Schumacher revealed that he is seriously considering taking up Toto Wolff on his offer to join Mercedes as a test driver for the 2023 season.
Schumacher is without a seat for next season after Haas decided against renewing his contract. While the son of eight-time F1 champion Michael showed some potential, he was largely far too inconsistent.
It has been a torrid end to the year for Schumacher after rumours began to circulate that Ferrari were also unlikely to renew his contract for the driver academy.
However, Wolff is clearly still a fan of the young driver and revealed that the Silver Arrows were more than interested in taking him off Ferrari and Haas' hands.
"We believe that we can look after him but we haven't really put pen to paper. We haven't really come anywhere close to any terms," he insisted.
"I'm seeing it that openly because I think he just fits and now we need to make it happen, if he wants to, Sabine (Kehm) wants to and then we see we see where that goes to," Wolff added.
With his options narrowing by the day, Schumacher admitted that he was very interested in talking to the Silver Arrows.
"Mercedes is a great brand, their achievements in Formula 1 are incredible. I'm looking at my options and Mercedes is one of them," he said.
"My father switched from Ferrari to Mercedes too so I see no reason why not. I have time now so will look at all the options and hopefully make the decision.
"But it's very nice to hear what Mercedes and especially Toto have said."
