McLaren's rising star, Oscar Piastri, has emerged as a standout performer in Formula 1, garnering praise from none other than his teammate, Lando Norris.

Piastri, the 22-year-old Australian, made a bold move from Alpine to McLaren for the 2023 season, a decision that proved pivotal in shaping the team's fortunes.

Amid a tug-of-war between McLaren and Alpine for Piastri's services, McLaren's offer won, and the Australian driver found himself in the orange and blue livery.

Despite starting the season as the reserve driver, Piastri quickly made his mark, securing two podium finishes and claiming victory in Qatar, a performance that contributed significantly to McLaren's climb to fourth place in the Constructors' Championship.

Norris, who himself had an impressive season with seven podiums, commended Piastri's composure under pressure, stating, "Oscar had an incredible season. Keeping calm and being yourself, it's good to be reminded of that." Reflecting on Piastri's ability to handle the pressure of Formula 1, Norris acknowledged the Australian's maturity in a new environment.

The 2023 season witnessed McLaren's remarkable turnaround from back-of-the-grid struggles to podium-scoring success. Norris, describing it as the most significant F1 transformation of the last decade, is optimistic about McLaren's continued progress. With the unveiling of the MCL38 on February 14, McLaren aim to build on the lessons learned and the strides made over the past months.

Norris expressed confidence in the team's newfound direction, stating, "We're on the right track. We've learned so much really over the last four, five, six months." Anticipating the 2024 season opener in Bahrain, he highlighted the team's excitement and determination to start the season strong.

As Formula 1 enthusiasts eagerly await the upcoming season, the focus shifts to the Bahrain International Circuit. The pre-season testing scheduled for February 23-25 will provide a preview of the teams' preparations and set the stage for another thrilling year of racing action.

McLaren's dynamic duo, Norris and Piastri, along with their revamped team, are poised to make their mark in the highly competitive world of Formula 1 in 2024.
