Ferrari boss Frederic Vasseur highlights ‘inconsistencies’ in Miami Grand Prix

Frederic Vasseur has expressed his disappointment at Ferrari's erratic performance in the recent Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix, where Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc experienced varying fortunes.

Ferrari team principal Frederic Vasseur has spoken out about the confusing Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix, which saw the team experience inconsistent performances from their drivers.
Despite starting the race in third and seventh place, Ferrari struggled to maintain their positions as Carlos Sainz fell two places to fifth, while Charles Leclerc finished in seventh place. Vasseur pointed out multiple inconsistencies in their performance, including how each driver appeared to prefer different tyre compounds.
"It was a tough weekend and a tough race because the pace was decent [in Qualifying] but we were not able to put everyone together," Vasseur explained to the media. "We were far too inconsistent from one car to the other and from one lap to the other."
Vasseur highlighted the importance of understanding the inconsistencies in the team's performance, stating that "that is key for us." He also noted that the team needed to focus their attention on their performance with different tyre compounds.
"For Charles, we had much more performance on the Hards, and with Carlos, much more performance on the Medium - and even with the same tyres from one lap to the other, we are a bit inconsistent," Vasseur said.
The Ferrari boss acknowledged the team's decent performance in the first stint with Medium tyres for Sainz, but noted that the team lost five seconds in 18 laps. He also mentioned that Leclerc struggled in the first part of the race but was in good shape in some stages of the second stint.
The team's inconsistent performance at the Miami Grand Prix highlights the need for Ferrari to improve their consistency in order to compete with other top teams. As Vasseur stated, "we really need to focus attention on this."
