Carlos Sainz has expressed strong confidence in the value Mattia Binotto will bring to Audi following a major shake-up in the team's management structure.

With Audi set to enter Formula 1 in 2026, the team have made significant changes to their leadership, aiming to strengthen its position before the new power unit regulations come into effect.

The reshuffle has seen the departure of Oliver Hoffmann, Audi's chief representative, and Andreas Seidl, the CEO of Sauber Motorsport who had previously led McLaren as team principal.

In a surprising move, Binotto, who left his role as Ferrari team principal at the close of the 2022 season, was appointed as COO and CTO at Sauber Motorsport.

Binotto kept a low profile since his Ferrari exit but has now taken on a pivotal role in shaping Sauber's future.

Sainz, who drove for Ferrari under Binotto's leadership for two seasons, acknowledged the positive impact of Binotto's experience.

"I'm not fully up-to-date with every detail at every team," Sainz admitted. "But Mattia's arrival is undoubtedly a boost for any team.

"His track record at Ferrari demonstrates his ability to build and lead a top team, which will be invaluable for Audi."

Sainz highlighted Binotto's expertise as a major asset, noting that the veteran's strategic knowledge from his time at Ferrari would significantly benefit Audi.

"That's exactly why they brought him in," Sainz added. "I wish him all the best in this new chapter."

Interestingly, Binotto's move to Sauber could have influenced Sainz's recent decision to commit to Williams for the next two seasons, ending months of speculation about his future.

As the current Formula 1 season pauses for summer break until 23 August, Sainz's future and Binotto's new role at Sauber have both become focal points of interest in the motorsport world.
