Amidst the buzz of the 2024 F1 season, Audi's venture into Formula 1 under the leadership of CEO Andreas Seidl is gaining traction.

The 48-year-old Seidl was the team principal of McLaren F1, before taking over as the CEO of the Sauber Group in early 2023.

In March 2024, as the CEO of the Audi F1 factory team, he took over the responsibility for the operational implementation of the F1 project and the management of the future racing team.

The German marque, set to replace Sauber in 2026, are shaping the team with Nico Hulkenberg as their inaugural driver. However, Seidl tempers expectations, acknowledging the uphill battle against established competitors.

In an interview with Auto, Motor und Sport, Seidl emphasized the hurdles ahead: "We should not fool ourselves. It is clear that the current engine manufacturers have an advantage." Yet, he remains optimistic, citing Audi's expertise and the infusion of Formula 1 talent into their ranks.

"Audi's broad drivetrain development knowledge, combined with the expertise of new staff from Formula 1, should help to make up for the lack of experience as quickly as possible," Seidl affirmed.

Despite facing a performance deficit, Seidl finds encouragement in the progress witnessed at Stake F1, noting the narrowing gap to front-runners in recent races.

"The differences are smaller than ever," he remarked, highlighting the competitiveness of the field.

Adding to Audi's momentum is the acquisition of Nico Hulkenberg, whose experience and technical acumen are expected to bolster the team's development efforts.

"There is no doubt that he is fast and with his experience, teamwork and technical understanding he has exactly what we need," Seidl asserted.

Looking ahead, the upcoming weekends F1 Miami Grand Prix presents another opportunity for teams to showcase their prowess. Scheduled for the upcoming weekend, the race promises excitement as drivers tackle the challenges of the Miami International Autodrome.
