UFC Fight Night tips: Holly Holm can return to her best against Yana Santos

At 41 years old and recently signing a new six fight deal with the UFC, former champion Holly Holm will look to take that confidence into her fight with Russian brawler Yana Santos.

Holm has been in the UFC since 2015 and famously picked up wins over Raquel Pennington and Marion Reneau before knocking out Ronda Rousey with a head kick heard around the world.

Hitting such lofty heights so early in her UFC career meant there was only one way Holm could go. Her decline was a sad one nonetheless, losing to Miesha Tate, Valentina Shevchenko and Germaine de Randamie in an attempt to recapture UFC gold.

Wins and losses alternated for Holm, but her boxing pedigree and former champion status was enough to secure a new six fight deal leading into Saturday's contest.

Santos herself has had a tough run in the UFC.
Debuting against featherweight destroyer Cris Cyborg, Santos was outsized and outmatched as the Brazilian dispatched her with ease in round one.
After that baptism of fire, Santos managed to find consistency as a gatekeeper at women's bantamweight, beating lower ranked opponents by unanimous decision whilst losing to the upper echelon by knockout.

Both women are coming off losses leading into this bout. Holm lost a split decision to Ketlen Vieira whilst Santos was knocked out by Irene Aldana. With that in mind, a win here is crucial for any future title aspirations these women have.

Holm's boxing pedigree and main event experience will be enough to get the job done, potentially sending Santos out of the UFC whilst she is at it.
