With the middleweight landscape changing once again after Israel Adesanya defeated Alex Pereira, Brad Tavares and Bruno Silva are looking to make a name for themselves in their new surroundings.
Tavares has been in the UFC since 2010, a cast member of The Ultimate Fighter season 11, the Hawaiian has been a mainstay in the UFC ever since with 14 wins and 7 losses in the promotion.
Silva is a much more recent addition to the UFC roster, after losing his preliminary fight for The Ultimate Fighter 3 Brazil, Silva would go 10-1 fighting across Brazil and Russia to secure a UFC contract.
Pressure has often been the route to success for Tavares, his best asset is his ability to outwork his opponents, often utilizing his excellent boxing and leg kicks.
Knockouts have been the key for Silva throughout his career, of his 22 career wins 19 have come by knockout including all three of his wins in the UFC so far.
Neither man will instinctively go to the ground, Tavares has two submission wins on his record but neither came in the UFC and Silva has been submitted in six of his eight career losses.
Both men enter this bout on losses, Tavares suffered a loss to Dricus Du Plessis in his last outing and Silva has dropped his last two fights to Gerald Meerschaert and Alex Pereira.
If Silva can get back on track with a win over Tavares, a top 15 opponent will likely be in his near future, however as Tavares approaches the twilight of his career, he might look to wind his time in the cage even with a win over Silva.
