UFC Fight Night Kansas City tips: Pedro Munhoz and Chris Gutierrez face off in a bantamweight brawl

Rankings will be at stake when Pedro “The Young Punisher” Munhoz takes on Chris “El Guapo” Gutierrez.

Munhoz and Gutierrez both sit inside the top 15 at bantamweight, the UFC's most star-studded division. Munhoz is currently ninth while his opponent Gutierrez sits 13th respectively.

Having been in the UFC since 2014, Munhoz has faced former champions and current top contenders throughout his tenure, defeating the likes of Cody Garbrandt and Jimmie Rivera whilst losing to Aljamain Sterling and Dominick Cruz.
Munhoz is adept at mixing his striking and grappling with 66% of his UFC wins coming by finish, in particular he has a ruthless guillotine choke finishing three of his opponents that way in the UFC alone.

Gutierrez has stormed up the rankings and shows no signs of slowing down. Since a debut loss to Raoni Barcelos back in 2018 Gutierrez has been unbeaten ever since, picking up seven wins and one draw.

Striking is Gutierrez's specialty, defeating Vince Morales by leg kicks, Batgerel Danaa by spinning backfist and Frankie Edgar by knee have made Gutierrez impossible to ignore at bantamweight.

Despite never losing by finish, Munhoz has been on an unfortunate run recently losing four of his last five bouts with one no contest.

All those fights came against top tier opposition, so Munhoz isn't necessarily finished at the top level, but confidence is key and with Gutierrez riding high its hard to look past him in this contest.

Key Stats

Two of Gutierrez's last three wins came by stoppage.
Munhoz hasn't finished a fight since his knockout of Cody Garbrandt back in 2019.

Suggested Bets

Chris Gutierrez to win by KO/TKO.
