UFC Fight Night Kansas City tips: Old dog Clay Guida to show off new tricks against Rafa Garcia

Clay Guida

Making his debut in the UFC all the way back in 2006, Clay Guida has seen it all in his 17-year run. At 41 years old he faces Rafa Garcia to open the main card at Fight Night Kansas City.

Whether campaigning at lightweight or featherweight, Clay Guida has approached all of his fights ready and willing to grind out results.

Facing the likes of Rafael dos Anjos and Anthony Pettis at lightweight to Chad Mendes and Brian Ortega at featherweight, Guida has never turned down a challenge and a challenge is exactly what he will get when he faces Mexico's Garcia.
A veteran of Combate Americas prior to his UFC debut, Garcia has excellent submission skills winning eight of his career contests by submission with only Jesse Ronson making it to the second round before succumbing to a submission.

Activity has been a huge part of Garcia's UFC career, fighting three times a year since his debut. Garcia has taken on everyone the UFC has thrown at him for better or worse as he has split all his UFC contests 3-3.

Guida and Garcia are at opposite ends of their careers. At 41 years old, any of Guida's fights could be his last, whereas at 28 years old Garcia could have a long time left in the sport.

You need skills to last 17 years in the UFC, with his best days behind him its hard not to root for Guida to go out on a win, but Garcia will be too much for the veteran in this contest.

Key Stats

Guida has alternated wins and losses in his last six bouts.
Garcia has been to a decision in five of his six UFC bouts.
