UFC 286 tips: Roman Dolidze looking to take Marvin Vettori’s ranking in London

Georgia’s Roman Dolidze had a superb 2022 in UFC, securing three wins all by finish - and if he carries on that form in his first 2023 outing, it could be a long night for Italy’s Marvin Vettori.

Dolidze is a brutal beast in the octagon. Using his immense size and strength to force his will on his opposition, he made short work of Kyle Daukaus and Phil Hawes, and his creativity to hook Jack Hermansson's leg whilst taking the Swede's back was nothing short of inspired.
Vettori, by contrast, had a much tougher 2022. After their initial meeting fell through, his only fight that year was a decision loss to Robert Whittaker.
Staying at the top of the division has meant finding appropriate opponents for Vettori hasn't been easy so Dolidze's rise could be just what the Italian needs to get back on track.
Vettori's skills are primarily in his grappling. The Xtreme Couture representative has nine submission wins on his resume including a first round rear naked choke over Karl Roberson back in 2020.
Currently sat at #9 in the official UFC rankings, Dolidze could break into the top five with a dominant win in London, which would make his next fight crucial to his title ambitions.
Should Vettori get the win, he would likely maintain his #4 rank and set himself up for another tough outing against an up and coming prospect.
Dolidze should show he is ready for a step up. His spectacular performances in 2022 made the hardcore fight fans take notice of him - now fighting on a PPV card against a top-five opponent, he is ready to show the world.

Key stats

The last finish in a Vettori fight was his submission win over Karl Roberson in 2020.
Dolidze has won three post-fight bonuses in a row.

Suggested bet

Roman Dolidze to win the fight.
