UFC 275: Everything you need to know as Glover Teixeira takes on Jiri Prochazka in Singapore

A potentially historic night of MMA action awaits as the oldest first-time champion in UFC history, Glover Teixeira, continues his fairy-tale journey this weekend.

The Brazilian, who choked out Jan Blachowicz to win the UFC light heavyweight championship last October, makes his first title defence in a much-anticipated clash against Jiri Prochazka.

UFC's first PPV event in Asia will also host the women's flyweight championship bout as Valentina Shevchenko battles Taila Santos.
If there is one fight which could steal the headlines though, it's the rematch between Zhang Weili and Joanna Jedrzejczyk. The duo put on one of the greatest female fights of all time back in March 2020.
Here, we take a closer look at the three main fights, the rest of the card, and the all-important start times ahead of UFC275.

Glover Teixeira vs Jiri Prochazka

There are few athletes who at 42 years of age dominate their respective sport. Glover Teixeira is certainly one of them.

The road to greatness has been treacherous for the Brazilian, who had to overcome a number of challenges before reaching the pinnacle of the light heavyweight division.

From a six-year battle for a US visa to a devastating defeat to Jon Jones in 2014, Teixeira certainly had plenty of reasons to give up on his dream. Instead, he continued to fight back, and through sheer heart and perseverance, he eventually climbed to the top of his sport.
His crowning moment arrived last October in Abu Dhabi as he squared off against Poland's Jan Blachowicz. Teixeira's submission victory thrust him to the top of the MMA pyramid as he finally claimed the UFC championship.
One man looking to end Teixeira's dream journey is Czech Republic's Jiri Prochazka.

The 29-year-old has enjoyed two fights in the UFC so far, winning them both by KO and claiming the 'Performance of the Night' awards along the way.

The former Rizin light heavyweight champion is on a 12-fight winning streak, with only one of them ending in a decision.
Prochazka will be hoping to leave Singapore with the UFC belt around his waist and his seven-year unbeaten streak firmly in-tact.

Professional record breakdown

Glover Teixeira 33-7 (18 wins by KO, 10 by submission)
Jiri Prochazka 28-3-1 (25 wins by KO, 2 by submission)

Valentina Shevchenko vs Taila Santos

Eight-time Muay Thai world champion and the current UFC women's flyweight title holder Valentina Shevchenko will be looking to make a seventh successful defence of her title when she takes on Brazil's Taila Santos.
The 34-year-old Kyrgyzstani fighter is ranked as the number one pound-for-pound female fighter in the UFC and is currently on an eight-fight winning run.
Shevchenko has only ever lost in the UFC against Amanda Nunes, with the last of her two defeats against the Brazilian coming all the way back in 2017.
Speaking of Brazilians, Taila Santos will be hoping to write her name in history books as she eyes her first UFC title and the 20th win of her career.
Santos put on a clinic in her last UFC outing as she choked out Joanne Wood to earn the 'Performance of the Night' back in November.
In spite of her impressive record, Santos is still regarded as a heavy underdog in this one, and will need to put on the performance of her lifetime if she is to take the title away from the indomitable Shevchenko.

Professional record breakdown

Valentina Shevchenko 22-3 (8 wins by KO, 7 by submission)
Taila Santos 19-1 (10 wins by KO, 3 by submission)

Zhang Weili vs Joanna Jedrzejczyk

It's been over two years since we last saw Joanna Jedrzejczyk in the octagon and this weekend, the wait finally comes to an end.
The 34-year-old Pole will mark her comeback in a blockbuster rematch against Zhang Weili.
The last time these two competitors squared off in the octagon, fans were treated to an instant classic as the Chinese fighter won a decision to claim the UFC strawweight championship.
Since then, the 32-year-old lost her belt and faced back-to-back defeats against Rose Namajunas.
With a potential future title fight on the cards for both Jedrzejczyk and Weili, the stakes couldn't be any higher ahead of this much-anticipated second fight.

Zhang Weili 21-3 (10 wins by KO, 7 by submission)
Joanna Jedrzejczyk 16-4 (4 wins by KO, 1 by submission)
