OKTAGON 57 results: Ex football opponent of Mats Hummels and Bastian Schweinsteiger knocks out rival
Christian Eckerlin at OKTAGON 57
German MMA superstar Christian Eckerlin delighted his hometown fans in Frankfurt with an emphatic victory over Miroslav Broz on Saturday night.
Eckerlin, who as a former football player shared the pitch with the likes of Mats Hummels and Bastian Schweinsteiger at youth level, improved his professional MMA record to 16-6.
The 37-year-old finished Czech opponent Broz in the second round of Saturday’s main event at OKTAGON 57.
Eckerlin now turns his attention to fellow German Christian Jungwirth. The two countrymen will battle at OKTAGON 62 which will take place at Eintracht Frankfurt’s 50,000 capacity Deutsche Bank Park stadium.
In the co-main event, Losene Keita defeated Agy Sardari in the opening round of the Tipsport Gamechanger tournament.
Keita picked up a unanimous decision, with all three judges scoring the bout 29-28 in his favour. The Black Panther, who is the current featherweight title holder, now moves on to the quarter-finals of the lightweight tournament.
Slovakia’s Pavol Langer was also successful on the card. The light-heavyweight defeated Marc Doussis with a first-round knockout.
