OKTAGON 56 weigh-in results: Aaron Aby and Sam Creasey battle for vacant flyweight crown

Sam Creasey and Aaron Aby at OKTAGON

All fighters have officially weighed in for Saturday's OKTAGON 56 event at the Resorts World Arena, Birmingham.

In the main event, Aaron Aby (16-8-1) hopes to complete his fairytale story when he rematches former Cage Warriors champion, Sam Creasey (18-5), but this time, for the vacant OKTAGON MMA flyweight title.

During the pre-fight press conference, Aby said, “If you want to be the champion in the biggest organisation in Europe, you’ve got to beat the best. Sam sits there as number one flyweight in Europe. That challenge excites me!”

Creasey added, “I get the chance to fight for another world title and become a two-promotion world champion. I will show I’m a world class athlete again!”

Birmingham’s own, Akonne Wanliss (7-2, 1NC), will finally collide with knockout artist, Sahil Siraj (9-2), in their highly anticipated €1 million Tipsport Gamechanger opening round contest during the co-headliner.

“I’m in his head,” stated Wanliss. “He will make mistakes and he will get knocked out. He’s going to be finished!” Siraj responded by explaining, “I think it’s going to be a first-round knockout. I’m getting tired of your stupid face!”

In a feature bout, rising star, Shem Rock (9-1-1), faces Great Britain Top Team product, Stefano Catacoli (7-1), in a Liverpool vs. London battle at a catchweight of 68kg/150lbs.

Rock highlighted, “I think maybe the big moment has got to him a little bit. He doesn’t want to be up here and he feels a bit anxious."

Moments before, Catacoli walked out of the press conference after saying, “The time for talking is done. I’m here to fight!”

Also on the main card, Will Fleury (11-3, 1NC) makes his OKTAGON MMA debut opposite former Glory kickboxer, Daniel Škvor (7-3), at light heavyweight and one of the best prospects in the UK, George Staines (1-0), takes on Slovak talent, Tomáš Cigánik (1-1), in a lightweight contest.

Elsewhere on the bill, James Hendin (8-2) looks to make a big statement in his new home opposite OKTAGON Challenge veteran, Jakub Dohnal (12-4), at featherweight and trash talk king, Denis Frimpong (2-2), throws down with Bradford’s Callum Mullen (6-2, 1NC) in a fascinating lightweight bout.

OKTAGON 56 will be broadcast live on OKTAGON.TV internationally as well as worldwide on the global platform, DAZN, in all markets except from CZ/SK. Fans in the UK/Ireland can tune in on Channel 4 and RMC Sport/DAZN will broadcast the event for viewers in France. The action begins at 5pm BST/6pm CEST/12pm ET/9am CT.
