‘He’ll get the knockout’ – Simeon Powell makes UFC 295 Jiri Prochazka vs Alex Pereira prediction

Alex Pereira

PFL Europe contender Simeon Powell is backing a knockout finish in the UFC light-heavyweight title clash between Jiri Prochazka and Alex Pereira.

Powell, who has his own PFL Europe championship bout coming up in December, is looking forward to a stacked card at UFC 295 in New York.

Former light-heavyweight champion Prochazka returns to action for the first time since June 2022 as he looks to reclaim the title he never lost.

The Czech fighter defeated Glover Teixeira in a thrilling encounter to win the championship but was forced to vacate it due to injury.

Pereira, on the other hand, is looking to become a two-weight UFC champion having already reached the pinnacle of the middleweight division.

Last July, the Brazilian fighter defeated Jan Blachowicz in his first fight at the new weight.

“It’s a good fight, it’s interesting,” Powell told Planet Sport when looking ahead to Saturday’s main event.

“Jiri is very awkward. There might be a period of time where Pereira has to figure him out. Set some traps, something like that.

“I think Pereira gets it done. I think he’ll get the knockout finish.”

The co-main event is also expected to produce fireworks as Tom Aspinall looks to become just the third British UFC champion.

The 30-year-old will square off with Sergei Pavlovich for the interim heavyweight crown.

“That’s massive, I’m looking forward to that fight,” said Powell. “Tom has overcome a lot. Having Leon [Edwards] and him as champions, it would show where UK MMA is at.”

Powell’s PFL Europe championship bout against Jakob Nedoh will take place on December 8 in Dublin, Ireland.
