Dominique Wooding says PFL format eliminates ‘favouritism’ as Brit plots pathway to $1million prize

Dominique Wooding will kick off his PFL Europe campaign on July 8 in Berlin, Germany.

British MMA star Dominique Wooding wants to progress to PFL's Global Roster by powering his way through the European tournament, and claiming the $100,000 in the process.

Wooding, who is a former Cage Warriors champion, will kick off his PFL Europe campaign in Berlin when he takes on South Africa-born Frans Mlambo for the second time in his career.

The two men first met at Bellator 227 with Mlambo going on to earn a unanimous decision victory.

Since then, Wooding has won three of his last five outings - all three with Cage Warriors. The 26-year-old is now desperate to win PFL Europe in order to book his spot in the Global Roster and earn a potential shot at the $1million prize.

"That's the aim," he told Planet Sport. "To get through this, go to PFL global and take the $1million cash prize. At the end of the day, this is prize fighting.

"You can be great, but after you're done in the sport, everyone is going to forget that you were great.
"Being famous or being well known doesn't pay the bills. At the end of the day this is prize fighting, the grand prizes are there and the PFL are paying fighters what they're worth."
PFL's tournament format means there's less politics when it comes to match-making. Fighters have the ability to progress as long as they keep on winning.
Wooding is a fan of the format, saying: "There's no favouritism. It's a season tournament format. The best man or the best woman will win.
"Also, activity. I like being active. Having three or four fights in a year, that's great for me. Keeping the engine well oiled.
"Obviously the incentive is there of winning a $100,00 prize and becoming a champion again."
Wooding will feature on PFL Europe 2 which will take place on Saturday, July 8 at the Verti Music Hall in Berlin.
The event will be broadcast live on DAZN for viewers in the United Kingdom.
