Conor McGregor announced he will return to the octagon over the summer in a blockbuster bout with Michael Chandler.

The Irishman made the announcement on social media, though the UFC are yet to confirm the news.

McGregor intends to fight Chandler during the UFC’s International Fight Week in Las Vegas on June 29.

In a video posted on X, the 35-year-old said: "I'd like to announce the return date for myself, the 'Notorious' Conor McGregor.

“The greatest comeback of all time will take place in Las Vegas, International Fight Week of June 29. The opponent, Michael Chandler -- and the weight, Mr. Chandler, 185 pounds."

McGregor has won titles with the organisation at 145 and 155 pounds, but has competed as high as 170 lbs. Chandler, on the other hand, has competed for the UFC at 155 pounds only.

The American jumped on X and responded to McGregor’s fight announcement, saying: “I always said I wanted you at your biggest, your baddest and your best. 185 would look good on me.”

The two fighters coached their respective teams on the recent edition of The Ultimate Fighter.

Both men took on Dustin Poirier in their last UFC outings, with Chandler losing by submission back in November 2022 and McGregor suffering a broken leg back in July 2021.
