Lingfield each-way racing tip: Ellie Piper poised to pounce on quick return to action

Tipstrr racing expert Richard Hutchinson is always looking for clues to identify extra each-way value, and he believes Tuesday's quick reappearance of Ellie Piper at Lingfield could prove significant.

The five-year-old mare Ellie Piper is no superstar, but she has managed two wins and three places from 18 starts, so knows how to challenge when conditions suit.
She started off over seven furlongs and a mile, but it wasn't until she was brought back to five furlongs (after 7 failed runs over those longer distances) that she found her niche.

Since then she has raced 10 times over the minimum trip, winning two and placing in two. Her victories were off a mark of 51 and in a Classified 0-50, so it's admittedly low-grade stuff, but at least we know what she likes.

The other important factor is her liking for a quick turnaround, with both her wins coming off a five-day and three-day gap following her previous outing.
Ellie Piper came back recently off an 82-day break, and unsurprisingly she finished seventh of eight runners, six lengths off the pace. If we write that off as her pipe-opener, we can perhaps read something into this reappearance after just three days.
She runs here off a workable mark of 52 and from a low draw she should gain a decent track position.
She also has David Egan in the saddle, and he comes fresh from guiding a couple of 22/1 and 28/1 outsiders to a frame finish at Meydan on Saturday.
The favourite here won well last time out, but that was over six furlongs and coming back to five furlongs under a five-pound penalty, he could be vulnerable to a five-furlong specialist.

The 50/1 opening price looked massive, and unsurprisingly did not last long, but with many bookmakers offering three places in this seven-runner handicap, Ellie Piper looks a nice play at a point each-way.
