Tipstrr’s top each-way pick for Monday: Glasses Up ready to celebrate at Ayr

Our Tipstrr team has scanned the site for stand-out selections, and none has been more heavily tipped than Glasses Up at Monday afternoon’s meeting at Ayr.

14:55 Ayr: Alice's 70th Birthday Handicap (1 mile 2 furlongs)

This is clearly going to be a very competitive handicap, with market leaders Highwaygrey and First Impression looking to repeat previous course-and-distance success, while Society Red and Morning Sun cannot be ruled out.

However, top of the course-distance performers is R. Mike Smith's Glasses Up who arrives at Ayr in good shape after a respectable fourth place over 12 furlongs at Musselburgh eight days ago.

It might be 21 outings since this eight-year-old gelding last headed the field, but he has visited the winner's enclosure at Ayr on no less than six occasions, five of which were over this 10-furlong trip.

He will again team up with Paddy Mathers in the saddle, a jockey who has a similar affinity for the Ayr course, having guided 22 of his 187 rides there to victory (plus 63 places for a 33% place rate).

It could be a big ask to expect Glasses Up to finish ahead of all those other contenders, but with four places available at some bookmakers, he appears to be well worth a punt at his current price to be in the mix.

Suggested bet: Glasses Up each-way in the 14:55 at Ayr
