Lingfield top racing tip: Tyger Bay ready to pounce at favourite course and distance

Tipstrr horse racing expert Steve Jones has picked out course-and-distance specialist Tyger Bay as his best value bet from Friday's busy race card.

Tyger Bay rarely disappoints over this trip and this looks a decent opportunity for him to record a fourth course-and-distance success.

His last three wins have all been achieved over this trip and all of them came last year, with the last two being in Class 3 handicaps, the most recent of which was under today's rider, William Carver, on New Year's Eve.

Despite being hampered at the start, Tyger Bay came through with his trademark strong finish to get up close home from 11 rivals, including the very useful Silky Wilkie.

Earlier in the month, he had also won a nine-runner 0-90 over the same trip, beating Total Commitment, a very good yardstick at this sort of level, and High Velocity, whom he then beat again by a bit further in that New Year's Eve outing.

Tyger Bay then arguably bettered those two recent wins when finishing third of nine in a higher-graded Class 2 in mid-January.
The winner was the 101-rated Annaf, who has since won the Listed Karchy Stakes and who is now rated 108. In second place in that Class 2 handicap was the aforementioned Silky Wilkie, who was four pounds better off with Tyger Bay than when the latter won their New Year's Eve clash.
But Tyger Bay confirmed his progress by finishing only half a length behind Silky Wilkie despite the weight turnaround, and also despite a wide trip which meant he covered more ground and came much wider into the home straight than the two principals.
Back here in calmer waters off a pound lower today, Tyger Bay should have a good chance under his last winning rider from a handy inside stall .
The six-year-old's only visit since then is easy to overlook because he was badly inconvenienced by sluggish pace and then didn't get a clear run in the straight.
Other than that, his previous four course-distance runs produced figures of 1113 (the latest of them in Class 2).

Next best bet: Baldomero

Of the others, Baldomero could go very well as he tries six furlongs for the first time in his career.

Just a week ago, he showed the speed to hit the front at the top of the home straight in a Class 3 over seven furlongs around here, before going down by less than a length at the line.

Campaigned mainly at a mile prior to that (and even winning over 10 furlongs), last week's effort opens up new opportunities and he clearly has more speed than connections previously thought.
Having twice gone close in Class 2 company over a mile-plus at Wolverhampton over Christmas, he could be dangerous at this lower level if the shorter trip suits.
