Chester racing tips: Surely Not and Alder poised for double strike

After landing us a winner with 9/2 shot Paws For Thought on Wednesday, Tipstrr racing pundit JoseBreval has been studying the form to produce another two selections from Thursday’s card at Chester.

14:05 Chester: Deepbridge Capital Handicap

Although currently behind the well-fancied Theoryofeverything and Vetiver in the betting, Surely Not is our favourite to land this race.

Two wins in his juvenile year gave a glimpse of his potential, and since being gelded over the winter, he hit the ground running on his season debut at Newmarket three weeks ago.
Relishing the strong gallop under Hollie Doyle, he saw off 14 rivals to win by more than two lengths and was still being ridden out at the finish, suggesting there could be more in the tank.

It is true that his success has cost him a seven-pound handicap, but he should be able to absorb that extra weight, and with the significant booking of William Buick, we can expect another prominent run.

Suggested bet: Surely Not to win the 14:05 at Chester

14:40 Chester: Boodles Dee Stakes

We had hoped that Alder might have slipped more under the bookies' radar for this competitive race, but it is hard to argue that his position at the top of the market is not justified.
Indeed, we were hesitating about whether to take Passenger, who impressed with his winning debut, but he doesn't yet meet the level of his principal rivals.
Alder broke his duck with a slender victory at Killarney last July and was quick to build on that success this term with a comfortable one-and-a-half-length victory at Cork 20 days ago, leaving the highly-rated Bertinelli in his wake.
He relished the extra two furlongs for that last outing, and with the reliable Gavin Ryan again at the reins he appears to have plenty more to offer and must be top of the shortlist here.
Suggested bet: Alder to win the 14:40 at Chester
