Cheltenham Festival 2023: Albert Bartlett tips - Three Card Brag holds all the aces

The Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle completes the warm-up acts ahead of the main event, and with 20 top-class runners lining up, picking the winner would be a great appetiser for the Gold Cup itself.
At just a few yards shy of three miles, the Albert Bartlett represents a true test of stamina for more experienced hurdlers, which can act as something of a showcase for horses capable of bigger challenges to come.
A case in point would be the 2019 winner Minella Indo, who subsequently switched to fences to great effect, landing the Gold Cup itself two years later, and only being denied a memorable double when finishing runner-up to A Plus Tard 12 months ago.
Gordon Elliott's Three Card Brag should relish both the distance and the soft going in what looks likely to be a stern test of stamina.
Although winning neither of his last two outings of 2022, his combined losing distances amounted to less than one and a half lengths, and he bounced back to arrive here in winning form with a 12-length success at Fairyhouse in January.

If the early promise shown by Rock My Way manifests itself again around Prestbury Park, then he could well cause an upset.
His two outings have both been at this track, and he followed up a runner-up spot on New Year's Day with an impressive course and distance success four weeks later, notably finishing ahead of Dan Skelton's Pembroke , who is strongly fancied for the County Hurdle.
