Ayr top racing tip: Second chance for First Impression at favourite course

From a full Bank Holiday racecard, Tipstrr pundit Steve Jones (who runs CD Systems Daily Bargain) has picked out his best bet from a competitive handicap at Ayr.

Connections of First Impression will be pleased with the forecast of significant rain on Monday morning because this six-year-old course-and-distance specialist has recorded all seven of his career wins (four on the Flat and three over hurdles) on ground ranging between good and soft.

He has been in decent form over hurdles so far this year, so he switches to the Flat in good shape, and boasts an impressive record of 1141 ay Ayr, kicking off with his maiden over a mile here as a two-year-old, when his victory against nine rivals suggested he would improve for a longer trip.

That turned out to be the case because his next visit, as a three-year-old, saw him win a strong Class 2 handicap when carrying three pounds more he does in this less demanding Class 4 event.

After suffering his only defeat here last October, he returned just two weeks later for another handicap over this distance, when jockey Jason Hart rode him more prominently this time, keeping up with the pace the whole way.
Suggested bet: First Impression to win the 14:55 at Ayr
That made a big difference and with today's handicap of a very similar standard, Hart will again be aiming to ease First Impression into a good early position from his inside draw.
If the same partnership can once again assume a front-running role, the six-year-old will have a big chance to replicate his latest success, making him potentially a big player here.
Of the others, the four-year-old Morning Sun should go well on the back of a seasonal debut that saw him finish third of 13 in a 10-furlong handicap at Redcar, which was in lower grade than today but he is lightly-raced and open to lots more improvement.
He stayed the trip well and was never nearer than at the line, so connections know they can now ride him much more prominently, with stall 6 being far kinder than his Redcar draw, plus he is another who will benefit from the forecast rain.
Next best bet: Morning Sun to win the 14:55 at Ayr
