Smoking hot Dettori claims Grade 1 hat-trick for Goldolphin at Woodbine in Canada

Charlie Appleby targeted a weekend G1 trio at Canadian track Woodbine and won all three, earning some tasty Breeders’ Cup entries. There was also a big blue win for Jamie Spencer on Yibir in New York.

An arresting weekend for the boys in blue in Canada and the U.S.

Charlie Appleby's North American adventure paid off over the weekend with "Win and You're in" Group 1 victories for Yibir, Albahr and Wild Beauty that gave the trio instant access to the Breeders' Cup.

Dubawi gelding Yibir stole the show at Belmont Park on Saturday with a first to last move that his opposition could not live with under Jamie Spencer. Yibir prevailed by two and a half lengths from Soldier Rising with Ballydoyle's Bolshoi Ballet back in fourth.
The win gave the three-year old a golden ticket to the Breeders' Cup Turf at Del Mar in November.

Meanwhile, seven year-old Walton Street, was blitzing the opposition at Woodbine in Ontario under Frankie Dettori in the Jockey Club Derby Invitational Stakes. The irrepressible Italian started the Canadian weekend hat-trick with a comprehensive five and three quarter length win over David Simcock's Desert Encounter.

On Sunday, Frankel Filly Wild Beauty was just too good, enabling Dettori to steer a wide course and still emerge victorious by two and a half lengths from Pizza Bianca in the Natalma Stakes. The Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies' Turf opened up to Wild Beauty with the "Win and You're in" victory.

The sweet hat-trick was confirmed in the land of maple syrup by two year-old Albahr who was just too hot to handle, enabling Dettori to open up for a two and a quarter length win from the Mark Casse trainer Grafton Street.
That victory earned Albahr an instant entry to the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf as Godolphin picked up over £800,000 in prize money in a stunning weekend alongside those priceless Breeders' Cup entries.
