HURRICANE CONI (4) has been out of the placings in two runs since a break, the latest when eighth, beaten 4.5 lengths, over 7f at Canberra after he got a long way back. Has further improvement to come and looks set to find best form. OBVIOUSLY ALBERT (8) got well back over 1m1 1/4f at Newcastle last time and never threatened, eventually finishing 4 lengths away in seventh. Finds an easier assignment and can turn things around. OHTANI (2) doesn't boast the best winning strike rate but ran a strong race last time out, finishing fourth and beaten only 1.5 lengths over 6½f at Canberra when he did his best work late. Stepping up a level this time but on his best form he is one of the chief contenders. SAPPHIRES SON (5) raced on the speed and lifted to score by 1.75 lengths at this track and distance last start in a much improved run. No reason he cannot salute again.
