Who is running in the Derby? The 18 confirmed horses for the Epsom Classic

Wondering what horses will run in the Epsom Derby? Well wonder no more as Planet Sport have a list of all the runners in the Classic race on Saturday, June 4.

The Cazoo Epsom Derby is fast approaching and will go to post at 16.30 on Saturday, June 4.

Sir Michael Stoute's runaway Dante Stakes winner Desert Crown is the favourite of 18 runners confirmed for the Group 1 race over one mile, four furlongs and 10 yards on the Epsom Downs.

Stoute is a legend of the racing game and has already won the race five times, including with Kris Kin, whose owner Saeed Suhail also happens to own Desert Crown.

Yet, Irish trainer Aidan O'Brien is not letting Stoute have his own way and has three of the 18 runners in the line-up.

His Stone Age looks a very serious contender after shaping like a Derby winner when swooping to victory in the Leopardstown Derby Trial by five and a half lengths.

O'Brien's other runners Changingoftheguard and Star Of India can both have cases made for them and it would no surprise to see a Ballydoyle outsider win, as happened with Serpentine in 2020.
Donnacha O'Brien, Aidan's son, has a live contender too in the form of Piz Badile, the game winner of the Ballysax Stakes at Leopardstown.

Meanwhile, Charlie Appleby, the trainer of last year's winner Adayar, looks to have a wild card entry in Nations Pride who has been supplemented late on and has assumed third place in the market in some places.

His Walk Of Stars and Nahanni are bother more than capable of taking the classic and the boys in blue of Godolphin should always be looked at seriously when it comes to the Derby.

Ralph Beckett's Westover and Roger Varian's Eydon are both well bred, interesting entries, not without a chance of taking a place or maybe more.
