Who is going to win the 2021 Grand National at Aintree?

The 173rd annual Grand National will take place this Saturday April 10th at Aintree Racecourse. Who will come out on top in the world's greatest steeplechase?

Planet Sport is here to run you through our favourites from the 40 runners in the big race (Saturday 5.15 BST), as well as give you some pointers to beat the bookies this weekend.

Cloth Cap (4/1)

Trainer: Jonjo O'Neil Jockey: Tom Scudamore

Form: 28-311 Age: 9 Weight: 10-5

Silks: Green and yellow chequers with white sleeves. White cap.

His third in the Scottish National over four miles demonstrates his staying prowess. We are finding hard to find a negative, and as the bookies favourite, we can see why Cloth Caps' chances are very strong.

Planet Sport rating: 5 out of 5 stars

Burrows Saint (9/1)

Trainer: W P Mullins Jockey: Patrick Mullins

Form: 31-262 Age: 8 Weight: 10-13

Silks: Pink with green stars. Pink cap.

Won the Irish National two years ago and has been trained for this event ever since. With better ground expected Burrows Saint will surely have a good run.

Planet Sport rating: 4 out of 5 stars

Any Second Now (10/1)

Trainer: T M Walsh Jockey: Mark Walsh

Form: 1-99P1 Age: 9 Weight: 10-9

Silks: Green and yellow horizontal stripes. White cap.

Won a Grade Two over two miles last time and has also won the Kim Muir in 2019. The Bay Gelding has an obvious chance.

Planet Sport rating: 5 out of 5 stars

Kimberlite Candy (12/1)

Trainer: Tom Lacey Jockey: Richie McLernon

Form: P/21-2 Age: 9 Weight: 10-10

Silks: Green and yellow horizontal stripes. White cap.

Blessed with stamina, finished second again in the Becher this season and the only concern is quick ground.

Planet Sport rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars

Minella Times (12/1)

Trainer: Henry De Bromhead Jockey: Rachael Blackmore

Form: 20-122 Age: 8 Weight: 10-3.

Silks: Green and yellow horizontal stripes. White cap.

A popular choice in recent weeks, but that is more down to the Rachael Blackmore factor than anything he has done. Good jumper, but stamina to prove and not necessarily well handicapped.

Planet Sport rating: 5 out of 5 stars

Discorama (18/1)

Trainer: Paul Nolan Jockey: Bryan Cooper

Form: 833-25 Age: 8 Weight: 10-6

Silks: Green with yellow stars. White cap with a yellow star.

Despite only winning twice in an 18-race career, his ability is not in doubt. Placed at three Cheltenham Festivals and has proven stamina for four miles. Certainly worth a shot.

Planet Sport rating: 4 out of 5 stars

Magic Of Light (20/1)

Trainer: Mrs John Harrington Jockey: Robbie Power

Form: 8-4128 Age: 10 Weight: 10-13

Silks: Green with a yellow cheveron, yellow sleeves. Red cap.

Tiger Roll had a run for his money two years ago when Magic Of Light came in a fine second. Looks high enough in the weights, but plenty to be said for course form.

Planet Sport rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars

Potters Corner (25/1)

Trainer: Christian Williams Jockey: Jack Tudor

Form: 11-37P Age: 11 Weight: 10-6

Silks: Plain White. White cap.

Welsh National winner who has limitless stamina. However, he has had an interrupted season.

Planet Sport rating: 3 out of 5 stars

Bristol De Mai (25/1)

Trainer: Nigel Twiston-Davies Jockey: Daryl Jacob

Form: 229-12 Age: 10 Weight: 11-10

Silks: Light green with dark green sleeves. Green cap.

Has held well in recent seasons, winning the Betfair Chase three times. Stamina is a concern for this front-runner, but has been aimed at Grand National.

Planet Sport rating: 5 out of 5 stars

Anibale Fly (33/1)

Trainer: A J Martin Jockey: Denis O'Regan

Form: 9883-5 Age: 11 Weight: 10-12

Silks: Green with yellow hoops. White cap.

It has been a while since he has shown his previous form. While he is no spring chicken, he's dangerous to dismiss.

Planet Sport rating: 2.5 out of 5 stars

Acapella Bourgeois (33/1)

Trainer: W P Mullins Jockey: Danny Mullins

Form: 61-251 Age: 11 Weight: 10-12

Silks: Red with white chevron. Red and white cap.

Beat Burrows Saint giving him weight in the Bobbyjo and now enjoys a nice swing in the weights. Better ground could see him in a better light, so no back number.

Planet Sport rating: 3 out of 5 stars

Milan Native (33/1)

Trainer: Mrs Denise Foster Jockey: Jamie Codd

Form: -12P09 Age: 8 Weight: 10-6

Silks: Purple with a white star. Purple cap with white star.

Although a winner at Cheltenham last season may fancy his chances, he does not look in the sort of form required to go close in a race like this.

Planet Sport rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars

Farclas (33/1)

Trainer: Mrs Denise Foster Jockey: Jack Kennedy

Form: 1-5342 Age: 7 Weight: 10-3

Silks: Purple with a white star. Purple cap with white star.

Won the Triumph Hurdle in 2018 and on the very best of his form, he is not badly handicapped. Lacks the experience over fences.

Planet Sport rating: 5 out of 5 stars

Yala Enki (40/1)

Trainer: Paul Nicholls Jockey: Bryony Frost

Silks: Yellow with blue stars. Yellow cap with blue stars.

Form: -2F314 Age: 11 Weight: 11-3

Stamina will certainly not be an issue given his exploits in recent Welsh Grand Nationals. The ground can never be too soft for him.

Planet Sport rating: 3 out of 5 stars

Takingrisks (40/1)

Trainer: Nicky Richards Jockey: Sean Quinlan

Form: 65-P41 Age: 12 Weight: 10-7

Silks: Purple with a yellow star. Purple cap with a yellow star.

He has won three major staying handicap chases, including the Scottish National. The worry is he is on a career-high mark at the age of 12.

Planet Sport rating: 2.5 out of 5 stars

Lake View Lad (40/1)

Trainer: N W Alexander  Jockey: Brian Hughes

Form: 33-155 Age: 11 Weight: 11-0

Planet Sport rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars

Class Conti (40/1)

Trainer: W P Mullins Jockey: Brian Hayes

Form: 2-P034 Age: 9 Weight: 10-6

Silks: Green with dark green sleeves. Green cap.

He has been running well in some of Ireland's biggest handicaps, but this is another test entirely. Winning form on good ground in France suggests he could find improvement.

Planet Sport rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars

Chris's Dream (40/1)

Trainer: Henry De Bromhead Jockey: Darragh O'Keeffe

Form: 10-25P Age: 9 Weight: 11-7

Silks: Pink and white halved with black sleeves. Black cap with a pink star.

Can produce some outstanding performances, but also some shockers. Just a neck behind The Storyteller at Down Royal but pulled up at Cheltenham.

Planet Sport rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars

Mister Malarky (40/1)

Trainer: Colin Tizzard Jockey: Jonjo O'Neill Jr

Form: -6U173 Age: 8 Weight: 10-12

Silks: Blue with pink stars. Blue cap with a pink star.

He is certainly hard to predict, but at his best is capable of some strong outcomes. He could give his trainer a dream send-off with Tizzard's retirement beckoning.

Planet Sport rating: 3 out of 5 stars

Lord Du Mesnil (40/1)

Trainer: Richard Hobson Jockey: Nick Scholfield

Form: 2-4991 Age: 8 Weight: 10-6

Silks: Blue with yellow diamonds. Blue cap with a yellow star.

Has made a real name for himself in recent seasons, but far from a one-track wonder. However, he must have soft ground.

Planet Sport rating: 4 out of 5 stars

Canelo (40/1)

Trainer: Alan King Jockey: Tom Bellamy

Form: 012143 Age: 8 Weight: 10-4

Silks: Green with yellow stripes. White cap.

Struck off a 12lb higher mark at Wetherby than his win over the Mildmay fences in October. But he does not strike as an out-and-out stayer.

Planet Sport rating: 3 out of 5 stars

Vieux Lion Rouge (50/1)

Trainer: David Pipe Jockey: Conor O'Farrell

Form: 97-510 Age: 12 Weight: 10-5

Planet Sport rating: 4 out of 5 stars

Double Shuffle (50/1)

Trainer: Tom George Jockey: Jonathan Burke

Form: 7-9316 Age: 11 Weight: 10-2

Silks: Sky blue with a blue star. Blue cap.

Talented horse who excelled at Kempton over three miles but has another 10 furlongs to tackle here.

Planet Sport rating: 1 out of 5 stars

Balko Des Flos (50/1)

Trainer: Henry De Bromhead Jockey: Aidan Coleman

Form: -4764U Age: 10 Weight: 10-9

Silks: Purple with a white star. Purple cap with a white star.

He has been below form since his 2018 Ryanair Chase win. Hard to fancy.

Planet Sport rating: 2.5 out of 5 stars

Ok Corral (50/1)

Trainer: Nicky Henderson Jockey: Derek O'Connor

Form: /091-P Age: 11 Weight: 10-8

Silks: Green with yellow hoops. White cap.

If last year's Grand National had gone ahead he would have been a true contender. However, his only run since came at Cheltenham where he pulled up, leaving him low in our list.

Planet Sport rating: 2 out of 5 stars

Shattered Love (50/1)

Trainer: Mrs Denise Foster Jockey: Kevin Sexton

Form: -31023 Age: 10 Weight: 10-7

Silks: Purple with a white star. Purple cap with a white star.

Planet Sport rating: 2.5 out of 5 stars

The Long Mile (50/1)

Trainer: J P Dempsey Jockey: Luke Dempsey

Form: 1-F103 Age: 7 Weight: 10-4

Silks: Green with yellow stripes. White cap.

One of the most unexposed runners in the field. This trip may bring about more improvement.

Planet Sport rating: 2.5 out of 5 stars

Definitly Red (66/1)

Trainer: Brian Ellison Jockey: Henry Brooke

Form: 21-8F4 Age: 12 Weight: 11-1

Silks: Dark green with green chevrons and red sleeves. Red and white cap.

Has long been seen by his trainer as an ideal type for this race. Big ask for a 12-year-old and no match for Cloth Cap.

Planet Sport rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars

Alpha Des Obeaux (66/1)

Trainer: Mrs Denise Foster Jockey: Jody McGarvey

Form: 595PP4 Age: 11 Weight: 10-9

Silks: Purple with a white star. Purple cap with a white star.

Performed badly before a finishing fourth in the Cheltenham cross country to Tiger Roll. That still leaves him with plenty to find looking badly handicapped.

Planet Sport rating: 2 out of 5 stars

Give Me A Copper (66/1)

Trainer: Paul Nicholls Jockey: Harry Cobden

Form: /17-2P Age: 11 Weight: 10-4

Silks: Red with white stars down sleeves. Red cap.

The Sir Alex Ferguson owned horse is very fragile and not sure a test such as this is what he needs.

Planet Sport rating: 3 out of 5 stars

Talkischeap (66/1)

Trainer: Alan King Jockey: Tom Cannon

Form: /3P-30 Age: 9 Weight: 10-12

Silks: Black and white checks with yellow sleeves with black stars. Yellow cap.

Form: 715-P6 Age: 10 Weight: 10-3

Form: 85/074 Age: 12 Weight: 10-2

Form: 1-P067 Age: 11 Weight: 11-1

Form: 62P-22 Age: 11 Weight: 10-2

Trainer: Noel Meade Jockey: Sean Flanagan

Form: 359P4F Age: 8 Weight: 10-12

Planet Sport rating: 1 out of 5 stars

Planet Sport's top four: 1. Any Second Now. 2. Cloth Cap 3. Burrows Saint. 4. Mister Malarky.
