Wetherby nap March 31: Sigurd could spring surprise

Wetherby stages a National Hunt fixture on Thursday afternoon. It’s Planet Sport tipster Jonathan Doidge’s local track and he’s used that knowledge for his sporting selection.

The racingtv.com Handicap Chase (16:33) on Wetherby's card looks an open contest. A field of 10 is set to go to post and there are several in there with chances.
I think it looks worth chancing Sigurd in this race. Joanne Foster's 10-year-old has won four of his 28 starts over fences, two of those being at this venue.
He handles any ground, has Brian Hughes in the plate, which is a regular occurrence, and he has a feather weight of 10st 3lb to carry.
In addition to that, he is thrown in from a mark 8lb lower than when he scored over C&D last spring.
I wouldn't worry at all about his moderate form this season, as he has left behind patches like that before with a win seemingly out of nowhere.
He could bomb out but at the likely price I think he is worth a few quid each-way. So, it's Sigurd, in the 16:33 at Wetherby on Thursday.
