15.00 Haydock - Luttrell Lad

Pete is tackling a tricky looking Pertemps Network Swinton Handicap Hurdle head on and going with dual-purpose trainer Philip Hobbs' Luttrell Lad.

Not out of the top four in any of his last four runs, the Beat Hollow gelding was second last time out at Chepstow over hurdles.
Here's a snippet of why Pete thinks that Luttrell Lad is the man at Haydock.
"The most recent Class 1 appearance was over at Chepstow and again a very good second place there in the Persian War Novices' Hurdle and I think there is enough from that race to take to this race and say Luttrell Lad is a very good way to go."
"This is quite a chaotic field I think, there's plenty who can get the win and plenty who at times underperform almost out of nowhere. So Luttrell Lad who keeps getting into those places is a good way to go each-way but for me I'm going to simply play Luttrell Lad to get the win at Haydock."

Other top Haydock picks

In the 13.50 Archie Watson's ace sprinter Glen Shiel will take some stopping over six-furlongs.

Shadwell Estate's Aldaary has some serious Group 1 entries this Summer, including the Lockinge and should surely make light work of the 15.35.

Milton Harris' Twinjets can build on a promising Hereford bumper win in the 16.10 with the Jet Away gelding looking useful and in receipt of 10 pounds thanks to apprentice Bradley Harris.

Finally, Muhtashim's superior staying ability can pay dividends for Ed Dunlop in the 17.18 and the booking of the talented Marco Ghiani is a big boost.
