Royal Ascot News: A Case Of You can still pop despite flat Curragh comeback

Adrian McGuinness' A Case Of You is a top level sprinter but let down favourite backers on his return to the Curragh. The Irish trainer isn't fazed though and says his charge can strike back at Ascot.

Ado McGuinness isn't fazed by A Case Of You being defeated at the Curragh on Saturday and insists the Prix de l'Abbaye winner is still on course for Royal Ascot.

The four-year-old Hot Streak colt followed up victory in Paris with the Al Quoz Sprint at Meydan in March but couldn't win on reappearance in the Group 2 Weatherbys Ireland Greenlands Stakes at the Curragh.

Favourites fans looked on forlornly as 13/8 market leader A Case Of You failed to keep tabs on Hugo Palmer's Brad The Thief and trailed in third.
But McGuinness is philosophical about the Summer ahead for A Case Of You with plenty of Group 1 races to go for.
"I was happy and think he'll come on for the run. We had to let him down a bit after Dubai and a horse like him always sharpens up for a run.
"He had a penalty to carry, but I think it's more down to the fact he'll improve for the run, which he's proven before.
"He's sound and 100 per cent, so we're all looking forward to Ascot."

A Case Of You has won in seven out of 15 career starts, earning over a million pounds in prize money. The Al Quoz Sprint at Meydan earned connections over £600,000 alone in prize money.

The colt has a pair or wins to his name at Dundalk over six furlongs and even competed in the Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint where he finished fifth at Del Mar in November of 2021.

Next up for A Case Of You could be either the five furlong, Group 1 King's Stand Stakes or the Group 1 Ascot Platinum Jubilee Stakes over six furlongs with the Platinum Jubilee likely to be favoured for ideal ground.

McGuinness added: "It will probably be the six-furlong race, but we'll keep an eye on the weather and no decision will be made until we know what the weather and the ground is like.
"If it got very soft, well then we might turn back to five (furlongs). Who knows what the weather is going to be like? It's very in and out here at the moment."
