Roksana, Dan Skelton’s rip-roaring mare, retired after suffering injury

The OLBG Mares’ Hurdle winner at Cheltenham has suffered a suspensory injury and has been retired to stud by Dan Skelton.

A sad day for the Skeltons as star mare's racing career comes to an end.

Roksana, the nine year-old leading mare of the Team Skelton operation at Lodge Hill, has been retired due to an injury to the suspensory ligament.

In all, the Dubai Destination mare had 18 runs for the Skeltons, winning six times and earning nearly £300000 in prize money. She also finished second in the Grade 2 Relkeel Hurdle at Cheltenham and took the bet365 Hurdle at Wetherby in 2020.
Trainer Dan Skelton went to unusual but informative lengths to describe Roksana's injury with regards the mare, who will be retired to stud with Sarah and Nigel Faulks.
Dan and Harry Skelton have a leading fancy in the 3.22 at Stratford in the form of Too Friendly on Monday, October 4.
