Hidden Connection (10.30 Del Mar)

Cairo Memories (11.10 Del Mar)

Pinehurst (11.50 Del Mar)

Pete's not hiding his attachment with the W Bret Calhoun trained Hidden Connection for our first tip from Del Mar.

Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies - Hidden Connection

This two-year-old is eyeing a hefty hat-trick after wins at both Colonial and Churchill Downs.

The filly couldn't have been any more impressive in winning the Pocahontas Stakes by nine and a quarter lengths last time out.

Here's a snippet of why Pete thinks Hidden Connection can find the winning post first.

"Obviously was a winner of a Grade 3, The Pocahontas, a few months back, that was part of back to back wins, looking very very sharp, some very good bare speed figures as well.

What's interesting here with this runner is that the yard has opted to stick with Reylu Gutierrez, an Eclipse Award finalist, of course, is a very talented young, almost prodigious jockey. I really like him and I think he is finally going to start getting his due in these big races."

Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf - Cairo Memories

Pete is walking like an Egyptian with his next pick as he rates Cairo Memories as a danger at Del Mar.

The unbeaten Robert B Hess Jr filly won the listed Surfer Girl Stakes at Santa Anita nicely in early October.

Kent J Desormeaux retains the ride and here is a snapshot of why Cairo Memories can reach the pinnacle.

"She was absolutely magnificent in her victory in the Surfer Girl at Santa Anita and won on debut in a Maiden Special Weight here at Del Mar as well…

There are questions over the speed but I still think that Cairo Memories at the price is definitely worth considering because that Surfer Girl victory at Santa Anita was so impressive, was won by more than a length on both her two runs, including here at Del Mar."

Breeders' Cup Juvenile - Pinehurst

Pete is not shying away from backing a Bob Baffert outsider in the form of the unbeaten Pinehurst.

Twice a winner at Del Mar, Pinehurst took out the Del Mar Futurity on September 7 and Pete reckons the two-year-old can produce the goods again.

John R Velazquez gets the ride and the following is just a piece of why Pete thinks Pinehurst can branch out into Breeders' Cup territory at Del Mar.

"Bob Baffert, obviously a four time previous winner of this race, there's a lot of controversy swinging around him at the moment but looking at the bet, I think Pinehurst looks really good…

Steps up in trip from that seven furlong victory last time around but won by four and half lengths that day and I think there's easily enough in the tank to get over this trip.

It might be that you go each-way on Pinehurst but I'm not going to though, I think Pinehurst is going to take this. "
