On The Nose: Halo Des Obeaux, the angelic upstart at Newton Abbot

Down to Devon for Planet Sport’s win-only tip and we’re keeping the faith with a Paul Nicholls runner in the Frodon silks. He who dares Rodney on Thursday, October 21.

It's about time this talented French import showed the shine of his halo and being a Paul Nicholls runner, you wouldn't put it past him.

2.48 Newton Abbot - Halo Des Obeaux

Plenty of non-runners have made this two miles, two and a half furlong race at Newton Abbot a bijou affair that can go the way of Halo Des Obeaux.

The silks are instantly recognisable, being those of Paul Vogt, who also owns the King George winning Frodon.

Halo Des Obeaux won a nice hurdle at Auteuil, which obviously inspired Vogt to take the plunge and his new purchase made a reasonable if not outstanding debut at Worcester early this month, finishing third.

That was a nice blow-out in new surroundings for the import and Nicholls will be expecting Halo to come on for the run and take this one.
