Newmarket nap April 12: Bergerac to solve Weatherby's Handicap puzzle

The start of the Craven Meeting is always an exciting day for Flat racing fans and Planet Sport’s Jonathan Doidge has cited a potential northern-trained winner on the card on Tuesday, April 12.

The Weatherby's Bloodstock Pro Handicap (13:50) at Newmarket has drawn a field of 13 and, given the time of year, there's no surprise that there's a relatively open look to it.
The north has several candidates, including the likely favourite Gale Force Maya, who represents Michael Dods.
However, I quite the look of Bergerac, in first-time cheekpieces, to find a bit more and win. He's scored over 6f elsewhere, so we know this trip is ideal for the four-year-old. He's also just 1lb higher than his last winning mark and he represents a team whose runners are in pretty good form.
The forecast drying ground is also a positive. You can back him each-way if you prefer. He's around 13/2 at the time of writing and I'm with the Kevin Ryan-trained runner, under Neil Callan.
So Tuesday's tip is Bergerac, in the 13:50 at Newmarket.
