Gosden's Nashwa putting Oaks credentials to the test at Newbury

John and Thady Gosden already have a market leader for the Epsom Oaks in Emily Upjohn but Nashwa can trouble the head of the betting with a win in the Haras De Bouquetot Fillies' Trial Stakes.

The Frankel filly Nashwa will try and build on an easy six and a half length win at Haydock to show she has what it takes for the Epsom Oaks on June 3.

Gosden's three-year-old is a general 12/1 shot for the female's Classic at Epsom and can prove her credentials in the one mile, two furlong contest at Newbury under Hollie Doyle.

The Clarehaven yard already have an embarrasment of riches when it comes to the Oaks with Musidora winner Emily Upjohn heading the market and they could have a serious reinforcement if Nashwa does the business on Saturday.
The Imad Al Sagar-owned filly also has a prestigious entry in the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot plus even a speculative entry to the Prix de lArc de Triomphe at ParisLongchamp in October.

Trainer's son Thady Gosden says that Saturday will give some indicators about the career trajectory of Nashwa.

"She won well on reappearance at Haydock over the mile. It's obviously a step up in grade for her, but she has come on for the run and we've been really happy with her at home," he said.
"Obviously we'll know where we are after the race in terms of where we're heading, whether up to a mile and a half or stay at a mile and a quarter.
"She's a very likeable filly, who is always trying to please. She has a good mind and tries her heart out, like all Frankel's seem to."

Stablemate Bouquet joins Nashwa and the trainer's son Thady is hopeful that the Dark Angel filly can come on for her disappointing end to last season in the Fillies' Mile where she finished eighth of nine at flat racing's HQ in Newmarket.

He continued: "The Fillies' Mile was a big jump in class for her at the end of last year, but she's done well over the winter and she'll appreciate the step up in trip. We'll see how she gets on."
