May 20 Racing Tips: Siskany to score at Sandown

There's racing at Sandown, Lingfield, Wolverhampton, Chelmsford and Market Rasen on Thursday May 20, giving Planet Sport tipsters plenty to get stuck into.

The weekend creeps ever closer so loosen your belt and pick a few winners from our hot selections below.

6.25 Sandown - Siskany

Charlie Appleby and stable jockey William Buick have a strong chance with Siskany in the Download The Casumo App Today Handicap.

Fourth on his introduction here in the autumn, this three-year-old has since registered back-to-back wins - scoring narrowly at Kempton in September but looking much improved when bolting up on his return to action at Windsor last month.

Siskany enters the handicap arena on a mark of 86, which may underestimate his considerable potential.

6.55 Sandown - Highland Avenue

Highland Avenue is expected to extend his winning streak to four with victory in the Casumo Best Odds Guaranteed Heron Stakes.

Odds-on backers had their fingers burnt when the grey was beaten as a 1/4 shot on his racecourse debut at Kempton in December.

However, Appleby's Dubawi colt has rewarded those who have kept the faith since the turn of the year, with successive all-weather triumphs followed by a clear-cut success in last month's Feilden Stakes at Newmarket.

That form does not look too shabby just over a month on, with stablemate and runner-up Secret Protector subsequently chasing home leading Derby hope Mohaafeth at the Guineas meeting, while the fourth-placed Youth Spirit has since struck gold in the Chester Vase.

Highland Avenue must carry a 3lb penalty in his bid to double his Listed tally, but remains open to improvement and is hard to oppose.

7.25 Sandown - Counsel

There are likely to be some long faces at Clarehaven Stables if Counsel is unable to get off the mark in the Casumo Proud To Support British Racing EBF Novice Stakes.

John and Thady Gosden's chestnut son of Frankel has finished second on each of his two previous outings, most recently pushing Foxes Tales close at Newbury.

The winner failed to make his presence felt in the Dee Stakes next time, but the third home Alfaadhel did win in maiden company at Chester to give the form a solid enough look.

Other Sandown selections: 5.25 Beautiful Sunshine, 5.55 Pied Piper, 7.55 Topanticipation.

1.35 Lingfield - Line Of Descent

Line Of Descent rates the best bet of the afternoon on a turf card at Lingfield.

The Nathaniel gelding shaped with abundant promise when third on his Doncaster debut, suggesting a step up from a mile and a quarter to almost a mile and a half will suit.

The Sky Sports Racing Sky 415 Novice Stakes represents a good opportunity for him to get his head in front before stepping up in grade.

Others to like at Lingfield: 1.00 Compass Point, 2.10 Highway One, 2.45 Evaporust, 3.20 Embolden, 3.52 Nodsasgoodasawink, 4.22 Silver Diva, 4.55 Scale Force.

3.05 Wolverhampton - Another Dawn

Rookie trainer George Boughey is enjoying an excellent campaign and Another Dawn can provide him with another winner.

The three-year-old could be spotted making late headway when third on her first start at Lingfield. The odds-on winner, Chocoya, is now rated in the 90s having run well in Listed and Group Three company.

Assuming she is fit enough after a winter break, Another Dawn should prove hard to beat in division two of the EBC Group Maiden Fillies' Stakes.

Potential Wolverhampton winners include: 1.20 Cap D'antibes, 1.55 Surewecan, 2.30 Sense of Humour, 3.40 Sexy Beast, 4.10 A Sure Welcome, 4.40 Qaaraat, 5.10 Act Of Magic.

6.40 Chelmsford - Habit Rouge

Chelmsford punters should rely upon course regular Habit Rouge in the chelmsfordcityracecourse.com Handicap.

Good chances at Chelmsford for: 5.05 Caribbean Spring, 5.40 Moorbik, 6.10 Spiritofthenorth, 7.10 Cedar Cage, 7.40 Eltham Palace, 8.10 Something Lucky.

4.30 Market Rasen - Grozni

The presence of Irish raider Grozni is notable in the final race at Market Rasen.

Denis Hogan's five-year-old finished fourth in what looked a strong Fairyhouse bumper when last seen on a racecourse in January and has far less on his plate in the Racing TV Standard Open National Hunt Flat Race.

Other Market Rasen fancies include: 1.10 Sorbet, 1.45 Numbers Man, 2.20 Mauritian Bolt, 2.55 Commanche Red, 3.30 High Noon, 4.00 Very First Time
