Kelso nap May 4: Blame looks Game for a big success

Planet Sport’s Jonathan Doidge heads north of the border and to some jumping action at Kelso for a selection on Wednesday May 4.

I've always liked Kelso as a fair National Hunt track where there is the need for both speed and stamina and it's been a profitable betting venue for me over the years.

I'm hoping that continues with The Blame Game (Kelso 14:15), under dual champion Brian Hughes on Wednesday. Hughes has been on board for both of the eight-year-old's previous wins, which came at left-handed Sedgefield.

The gelded son of Getaway stays three miles but had the pace to win over 2m4f as recently as last August and so this trip, which is between the two, should hold no fears.
Ewart's only recent runner (also ridden by Hughes) went well to be placed, so we have no concerns over stable form, while the selection also relishes a sound surface, which he'll get in this race.

He's just 1lb higher than that most recent win, so The Blame Game gets the nod in 14:15 at Kelso on Wednesday.
