July 21 Racing Tips: Motawaajed to steal the crown at Lingfield

The summer sun will beam down on the Planet Sport tipsters at Lingfield, Sandown, Catterick and Bath on Wednesday, July 21.

Beating the bookies will certainly go well with the summer heat. Our selection of tips below may help you out today.

3.40 Lingfield - Motawaajed

Motawaajed can make it a double on the day for Haggas by landing the whichbookie.co.uk Free Football Tips Classified Stakes at Lingfield.

This Dark Angel gelding did not make it to the track as a juvenile, but he has made up for lost time by winning one of his three starts this term.

After showing promise when fourth on his Newcastle debut in April, Motawaajed shifted up a gear, comfortably winning at Wolverhampton, having improved from his debut to coast home by four and a quarter lengths.

There was plenty of confidence behind him on his latest run at Thirsk too, where he was sent off the 8/15 favourite. However, his performance would turn out to be disappointing, finishing in second.

He got a bump from the winner that day and did not help himself by racing keenly, but he was no match for King Triton.

Motawaajed has a very handy pull in the weights under the conditions of this extended seven-furlong contest, and he should be able to take advantage.

7.00 Sandown - Matamua

Matamua has been thereabouts in each of her five career starts, but her time can come in the Addlestone Handicap.

She was sent off the evens favourite on her latest run at Lingfield earlier this month, but she never displayed that winning performance, and was pipped for second.

Simon and Ed Crisford had opted to switch back to seven furlongs on that occasion, following two previous attempts at an extended mile and it is possible the heavy ground took its toll that day.

Back on a sound surface and sticking to seven furlongs might result in that all-important win for this daughter of Lope De Vega.

8.10 Sandown - Sea Sylph

Sea Sylph can make a victorious handicap bow at Sandown.

William Haggas' charge has not finished out of the first two in three outings to date, registering her sole success when stepping up to 10 furlongs from a mile at Windsor in June.

Having just been touched off on her only juvenile start last year, it was no surprise to see this magnificently bred filly get off the mark, defying her inexperience, as she drifted across the track slightly in the finish before eventually winning by a length.

Punters anticipated another novice success at Kempton on her next outing at the end of last month, but after saddling with a penalty, as well as finding Chiasma too good, the pair drew clear in a duel over the last couple of furlongs.

Sea Sylph was tackling a mile and a half that day but just could not find that required extra push in the closing stages. So, it perhaps makes sense to switch back to her winning trip with quick ground.

1.15 Catterick - Hester Prynne

Hester Prynne should appreciate dropping in company for the British Stallion Studs EBF Novice Stakes.

She won on her debut at Beverley and neither disappointed at the Hilary Needler Trophy, before David O'Meara opted to step her up for a crack at Listed company at Newmarket.

Sent off an 80/1 shot, she finished last of 15 there - and this six-furlong contest looks a bit more her speed.

3.30 Bath- Newyorkstateofmind

Newyorkstateofmind should enjoy the quick ground at Bath, in the Visit attheraces.com/marketmovers Handicap.

He was an all-the-way winner last month over the same extended five furlongs he tackles here and was only narrowly beaten previously.

The four-year-old is clearly in top form at present and can defy a career-high mark.
