Irish Derby News: Tuesday heads great eight for Curragh Classic

It could be Tuesday's day on Saturday, June 25 as Aidan O'Brien's filly heads a field of eight for the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby at the Curragh.

Tuesday took the Epsom Oaks, convincing O'Brien to supplement the three-year-old for the one mile, four furlong Group 1 where she will be pitched against Epsom Derby third Westover among a field of eight.
Galileo filly Tuesday will attempt to become the first filly since Godolphin's Balanchine in 1994 to win the Irish Derby.
Tuesday is O'Brien's only runner after Stone Age and Changingoftheguard were scratched but the O'Brien name will be more than represented at the Curragh.
Aidan's son Donnacha runs Piz Badile, who flopped at Epsom, finishing 12th of 17 in the Derby behind runaway winner Desert Crown.
Other son Joseph has confirmed Gallinule Stakes winner Hannibal Barca whose Group 3 win at the Curragh on May 20 should put the Zoffany colt bang on for the race.
Ralph Beckett's Westover looks a very strong British raider after his fine third in the Epsom Derby which could have seen him push second if not for trouble in running.

The well-bred Juddmonte colt by the legendary Frankel is pushing Tuesday for favouritism and will surely run a big race if replicating anything like the Epsom form.

Regular jockey Rob Hornby has been replaced by Ireland's champion jockey Colin Keane for that extra local knowledge.
Meanwhile, up and coming Sussex trainer David Menuisier sends Cocked Hat winner Lionel, due to be ridden at the Curragh by Jamie Spencer.
Training legend Jim Bolger's Teofilo colt Boundless Ocean is available at a huge 66/1 but it would be foolhardy to write off the veteran trainer who first won the race in 1992 with St Jovite and followed up in 2013 with Trading Leather.

Fellow Irish trainers Paddy Twomey and Andy Oliver have entered French Claim and Glory Daze respectively.

The Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby is due to take place at the Curragh racecourse in Ireland on Saturday, June 25. The one mile four furlong Group 1 is worth £570,000 to the winner and will go to post at 15.40. The race will be live on ITV Racing.
